Strategy
Read the situation, weigh trade-offs, and choose a direction under uncertainty.
Two days. One crisis. No easy answers. Élan’s flagship event places students inside a high-pressure leadership simulation where decisions change the direction of the game.
Crisis Command is Élan’s flagship challenge, where teams face a fast-moving simulated crisis, build their response strategy, adapt under pressure, and present their final course of action.
This is not a debate and not an MUN. It is a live crisis, and it asks for all of these at once.
Read the situation, weigh trade-offs, and choose a direction under uncertainty.
Speak to the public and the press without losing control of your message.
Hold your team together and make the call when there is no perfect answer.
New information keeps arriving. Adjust fast without losing your nerve.
Bring it together into a decision you can present and defend.
Crisis Command is the signature experience of Élan. Mixed-school teams act as the emergency governing council of a fictional country facing a national crisis. The scenario evolves across two days, forcing students to think fast, negotiate, plan, communicate, and defend decisions under pressure.
It is not a debate, not a prepared speech, and not a normal quiz. It is a live strategy experience where every team must adapt when new information arrives.
Not an MUN. Not a debate. Not a conference.
Crisis Command is an immersive crisis festival format where leadership, ethics, realism, communication, and teamwork are tested in real time.
Each team works like an emergency cabinet. Every role has a different responsibility, so the strongest teams are not just loud, they are balanced, strategic, and coordinated.
Sets the direction, holds the team together, makes final calls, and presents the national response with authority.
Manages resources, budgets, relief priorities, trade-offs, and the economic consequences of every decision.
Handles diplomacy, global pressure, alliances, external communication, and international consequences.
Converts ideas into structured, realistic, actionable policy with clear timelines and implementation logic.
Controls public trust, press statements, crisis messaging, stakeholder confidence, and reputation management.
The format is designed to build pressure gradually. Teams start with incomplete information, receive updates, face complications, and end by defending a final response.
Teams receive the country profile, crisis trigger, role responsibilities, available resources, and first intelligence packet.
New updates create pressure. The crisis expands, stakeholders react, public trust shifts, and teams must adapt quickly.
Top teams present their complete response, defend decisions, answer questions, and show how they managed the crisis.
The best team is not the one with the most dramatic speech. The winning response must be realistic, ethical, coordinated, strategic, and clearly communicated.
Calm direction, team coordination, initiative, and decision-making under pressure.
Clear priorities, practical planning, smart trade-offs, and long-term thinking.
Feasible actions that consider resources, timelines, stakeholders, and consequences.
Fair, responsible decisions that balance urgency with human impact.
Strong public messaging, clear presentation, and confident defense of choices.
The ability to respond when the situation changes and old plans stop working.
Students do not just sit and listen. They enter a role, face uncertainty, work with people from other schools, and get tested by a changing situation.
Crisis Command develops communication, confidence, critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, policy reasoning, and pressure handling in one format.
The simulation begins on Day 1 with the briefing, escalation, and Initial Response Brief submission. It then continues on Day 2 with deeper consequences, final planning, final submissions, presentations, and awards.
Crisis Command is the reason Élan feels different. Register your pass, bring your delegation, and prepare for two days where every decision matters.
